Juan the Man for Girton
Girton United HQ, 28th February 2008
This week Girton United completed the free transfer of Juan the man. Manager Chris Tippet was quick to seal the signature of one of Colombia's brightest stars and when we caught up with him he was a very happy man. He said "I am a very happy man". The high profile signature signals Girton's intent and also brings back fond memories of last years foreign important Ahmed

Happy Travellers
Fulbourn Recreation Ground, 23 February 2008
Girton kept up their good away form with an impressive 2-1 victory over Fulbourn Institute. A shakey first half was turned around with an impressive second half display. Two goals midway through the second half gave Girton the cushion they needed to take all three points.
Aaron Maskell fired home the first from close range after good work down the right and Andy Mee followed closely with the second, a far post header after a sweeping move down the right. Fulbourn got a goal back from the penalty spot after a dubious decision but Girton held on for a great three points.
The reserves moved up to fifth in the table after a one nil home win against Shelford Reserves. Craig Verrinder struck home a half volley after being set up by Phil Wright.

Girton Stop the Rot
Soham Town FC, 16 February 2008
Girton players could have been forgiven for forgetting what it felt like to win a game after the last 5-6 weeks but Saturday's performance away at Soham showed everyone exactly what Girton is about, with every player fighting for the cause, not as individuals but collectively, when players looked tired there was someone there to give them that extra push and the reward that followed was a well deserved 2-1 win.
Girton went in a goal down but an exquisite 20 yard free-kick from Frost, who was wheeling away before it had even hit the net and then a calm finish from top scorer Aaron Maskell 10 minutes later gave Girton the victory.
The reserves were beaten 3-1 at home by Litlington leaving them 7th in the table. Neil Jenkins scored the Girton goal
